In Cazalla de la Sierra, Carmen Ladrón de Guevara rescued an old Carthusian monastery in 1980 and transformed it into a unique cultural center and a meeting point for artists from across Europe. Decades later, after years of conflict, she no longer controls the Charterhouse she helped bring back to life. Today, she lives opposite it, gazing at it daily from her patio—caught between the memory of that dream and the traces that still remain.
