The Refusal
They say boys don’t bloom; not because they can’t, but because the world never planned a place for their beauty.
They say boys don’t bloom; not because they can’t, but because the world never planned a place for their beauty. This is not about boys becoming delicate. This is about reclaiming beauty as power. Society allows men to be functional. Women are allowed to be beautiful. India celebrates usefulness - especially in men. Work. Provision. Strength. Logic. Breadwinner. Beauty is considered wasteful. Beauty is “extra”. So here, the boy refuses to be purely useful. He refuses to exist only as strength, labour, structure. He chooses beauty deliberately. He chooses excess. Boys don’t bloom because blooming serves no purpose. This is a celebration of things that serve no purpose.
